REALTOR®: Expect Volatility, Movement, Change in Year of Water Tiger

Well-known for his Chinese New Year predictions, Master Y.C. Sun inherited his Chinese astrology & I-Ching skills from his father.

Renowned feng shui master, astrologer and fortune teller, Master Y.C. Sun, shared his predictions for the Year of the Water Tiger with members of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) last month.

“This year will be a year of water and wisdom. Look at the signs before making a decision. Don’t follow the crowd,” Sun told REALTORS®.

Water brings cold, strong windstorms, deadly snowstorms in the northeast, and heavy rain and floods in the Pacific northwest. The Bay Area may finally see rain, said Sun.

The Tiger is a sign of invasion and attack. Sun predicts President Biden will eventually negotiate a peaceful outcome to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Sun reminded REALTORS® each Zodiac animal rules in a 60-year cycle. The Ukraine crisis is an example of history repeating itself, like the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

This year Sun also predicts confrontation between China and India. Conflicts in Iran, the Middle East and oil-rich African countries could likewise spark regional and global crises.

After two chaotic years (Metal Ox in 2021 and Metal Rat in 2020), Sun says the Water Tiger brings positive signs for the pandemic. New drugs will be developed and by June, COVID-19 will become similar to the sea-sonal flu. The economy will gradually re-open, and “people will travel and have fun again.”

Water brings agility and movement “like the waves of the sea.” Sun sees continued volatility in the stock market. There is a strong possibility of a bigger market sell-off in 2022, much like the Flash Crash of 1962, when the stock market suffered a massive decline after a huge run-up in 1961.

“Brace yourself for a tough year. Good effective hedging, raising cash is critical, buy low, sell high,” said the feng shui master.

2022 is a year of travel and merger and acquisition (M&A) deals, including in real estate. More Californians will relocate to other states. Sun sees change occurring with inflation and interest rates rising. Home prices will continue rising in the Bay Area though at a slower pace.

This year will be a better market for buyers, said Sun. Baby boomers are downsizing. Millennials turning 29, particular the high earners, will buy their first homes. Older millennials will trade up. The real estate market should remain steady with good price growth in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Fremont, Milpitas, Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade, Reno, Napa, Boise, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Orange County, Oxnard, Riverside, San Diego, Phoenix, Austin, Miami, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, Washington, D.C.

Although one’s fortune can be predicted with far more accuracy knowing one’s birth date, day, time, and place, in general, lucky Chinese zodiac signs in 2022 are the Ox, Goat, Horse, Pig, Dog and Rooster. Sun predicts conflict between the Monkey and Tiger this year.

The feng shui diagram this year points to the Northeast, South, Southeast, Northwest, and North, as good locations. Bad locations are the Middle (Center), Southwest, West, and East, but they can be remedied with copper bells, wind chimes, a peace lily, water bamboo, or blue decor, glass of water or Fiddle Leaf Fig plant, depending on the room’s location or direction it faces.
